Chapter 6310: The Sliver Of Light

To put it simply, the world knew Desolate Ancestor for her unbeatable ascendancy and creation of a new cultivation system.

They also mentioned her numerous battle feats such as killing three progenitors in Strongra.s.s, G.o.d Eye, and Bronze.

They sang tales of her dominance when defeating Silver Dragon Mecha.

They spoke of how she opposed Zhan Sansheng for eras and swept through Supreme Heaven…

However, only a selected few knew of her agony behind the scenes and how she overcame it due to her love for the world. If she didn’t love it dearly, she wouldn’t have created a cultivation system or Desolate Frontier.

She persevered with optimism and never wavered, culminating in an immortal ascension.

“My progenitor is an immortal.” Jiang Qingmei said with pride, not only because of her cultivation realm but also her tenacious dao heart. The latter was more worthy of pride.

Before this, juniors such as herself respected the progenitor because she was an immortal. Now, she understood just how much more special it was.

After a long while, she regained her wits and stared at Li Qiye who was relaxing in the pond. The liquid did not affect him; he looked like a fish that had just been released back to its natural habitat.

“Got a good look?” He asked while still closing his eyes, causing her to blush.

She looked away and said softly: “So what is this thing?”

“Do you see that indiscernible sliver of light?” He pointed.

“I do not.” She shook her head.

“The destruction stems from it, the remnant after the explosion.” Li Qiye said.

“What type of light is it?” She asked.

“Primordial, the true beginning.” Li Qiye said.

“A primordial light.” She tried again but couldn’t see the source of the light: “This is all that’s left?”

“Yes, and this is all this world can endure. Otherwise, any more and it would have reduced this world to ashes. It is something that can kill your so-called immortals.” Li Qiye smiled and shook his head.

“Kill immortals…” She shuddered. No wonder why a little wisp was enough to kill characters like them.

Something suddenly popped up in her mind - a particular legend.

“A remnant light after an explosion? Ancestor, are you talking about that disaster?” She gasped and became frozen.

When she stopped thinking, Li Qiye was out of the water with his hands spread again. She lowered her head and bashfully helped him put his robe back on.

He stretched afterward and said: “It’s been a while since I felt this good, a layer of skin stripped away.”

She smiled wryly because supreme overlords couldn’t endure this pond while Li Qiye treated it as a refres.h.i.+ng bath.

He descended the peak and she followed. After walking down the steps, he pointed and Desolate Tower turned back into the stone.

They left Desolate Hall and Li Qiye gazed into the distance. She stood beside him and did the same.

In this split second, she imagined her progenitor back then, also standing here after each trial and gazing at the land. What was on her mind then?

  “I’m hungry.” Li Qiye said.

Her mind returned and she said: “Ancestor, I will take care of it.”

She disappeared into the sect. After a while, she returned with a steaming grilled chicken. It pulsed with a wondrous light, clearly a special creature when alive.

Li Qiye tore out a drumstick and began eating.

“Since fate brought us together, I should grant you a fortune.” Li Qiye walked toward the tablet while eating.

“Well, what kind of fortune do you want?” He asked while staring at her.

She had no idea who he was when they first met. Now, she knew and realized the weight of this question. This was a historical opportunity.

“Becoming an immortal is a personal journey.” She said softly.

“Not just the immortal stage, the return path toward longevity is also a personal journey.” Li Qiye said.

  “Right.” She smiled wryly.

“If a mortal wishes for riches and the G.o.ds send down a mountain of gold and silver, the mortal will still have to move it.” Li Qiye said: “The G.o.ds won’t place them in prepared pouches.”

“You’re right, Ancestor.” She smiled beautifully.

“Speak, what is your wish?” Li Qiye said.

“I wish to train my dao heart.” She stared straight at his eyes.
