She answered the call without looking at it. "h.e.l.lo?"
"Xiao Mei, it's me."
Xia Meilin furrowed her brows when she heard a familiar voice from the other line. She looked at her phone screen and was surprised to see who the caller was. She quickly placed the phone back against her ear. "Ning-ge?"
The excitement can be heard from her voice. He was alive! She was busy thinking of other things for the past few months that she forgot something very important for her, Feng Ning was alive!
"How are you?" Feng Ning asked.
"I'm fine, I'm fine." Tears started forming on the side of her eyes. She missed hearing his voice, knowing that he was alive, she help but feel happy.
He sighed in relief when he heard her say that.
"How are you, Ning-ge?" Xia Meilin couldn't help but ask.
"I'm... fine." He softly said. "Are you at home?"
"No. I'm at my grandparents house." She wiped her tears away.
"Is your husband with you?"
She blinked a few times, "Well... no, he's not here. He went to a business trip. Why are you asking?"
"I wanted to visit you tomorrow." He chuckled a bit. "Can I?"
Xia Meilin suddenly remembered the time where she last met with Feng Ning. That was the day where she gave herself a closure with him. She remembered how Lu Yifeng was wary of Feng Ning and because of this, she never brought his name up to him again.
She lowered her head. This time, she knows what she was feeling for Feng Ning, she couldn't feel a thing for him anymore because she has already started loving Lu Yifeng. She also realized that she has mistaken her feelings for Feng Ning as a romantic one when it was just a familial one, no wonder she was able to move on fast from him.
Feng Ning was her childhood friend and was like a second brother to her. But because of how their parents keep on s.h.i.+pping them together, she was influenced by it. When Feng Ning promised her that he will return, she waited for him, thinking that he was like her prince that will one day take her away. Such childish thoughts, did she really loved him?
